Glossary of Terms
B
- Bates - usually a 100a or 60a 120v 3-pin stage connector and also 100a 220v connector where all 3 pins are in a line and use a split pin to keep tension between connectors. Prone to arcing, voltage leaks, depressed pins, kick-outs, and all sorts of other disasters
- Break-in - a female socapex connector with 6x male edisons. Often on an order to "feed" a socapex run from an Edison ratpac or from a lunch box
- Break-out - a male socapex connector with 6x female edisons. Often found dangling behind set walls or in the air providing power for lights. Often this is used for dim lines, but can just as well be used for hard power.
E
- Edison - See also: NEMA 5-15. See also: Hubble.
H
- Hard Power - line voltage not connected to a dimmer rack
- Hubble - See also: NEMA 5-15. See also: Edison.
L
- Lunch Box - a 100a flow-through distribution box with a 10x female edison receptacles
S
- Saco - See socapex. "Saco", or /sɑk oʊ/ is some funky inverse short-hand of socapex
- Single - a single circuit 12/3 conductor sjoow jacketed cable with edison connectors on both ends.
- Socapex - a generitized brandname of a 19-pin, 6 circuit mult that is generally used to run dim circuits from a dimmer rack into set.
