Socapex
- Tear 2" gaff tape to 1 3/4" to label the socapex connector.
- Write labels using a wide-tip marker such has a chisel-tip sharpie or a pentel paint pen.
- Underline your labels.
- Write the label twice when dealing with labels that are up to 3 characters; when 4 characters are required, a single label is sufficient.
- Line up the first label with the "key" or "keyhole" and the second label directly opposite that
Orientation
Any cable, whether it be socapex or bates or a single should always have the labels oriented such that the male-end point to the sky and the female end points to the ground. This is because, more often than not, cables drop from the grid and are viewed in this manner. It also ensure that, coupling this with lining up your labels with the key/keyhole, you will be able to read the connection as it enters the back of the dimmer rack.Standard colors

Break Outs
Break-outs should be labeled to correspond with their socapex run in the correct color and label on the socapex connector and the Edison end should be labeled in white with the appropriate Channel number. Great care should be taken to orient the labels appropriately and attention should be given to the fat that there is an order to the break-outs themselves.
